Hello and a very warm welcome to Story of Yum, your happy place for food-stories and easy, delicious cooking!
I’m Rani, a proud mum of two energetic little ones, wife to a supportive partner, and by day I wear the hat of an IT engineer. Despite the long hours being a mom to two, my heart really belongs in the kitchen — stirring, tasting, sharing. This blog is the result of that love: a creative little space where my family’s everyday meals, fun kitchen experiments, and all-time favourite recipes meet new ideas and fresh flavours.
My Why
Juggling two kids and household logistics (yes, school runs, lunch-boxes, messy painting sessions), I noticed that cooking had to happen quickly, thoughtfully and with heart. I realised I wasn’t alone — many of you reading this are in a similar boat: balancing work, family, the desire to eat well, and maybe even wanting to explore something new in the kitchen.
So I decided: let’s make food that’s approachable, fun, and loving. On Story of Yum I bring you recipes that my husband and kids love, and that I’m genuinely excited to cook after work-hours. If I wouldn’t make it for my own table, I won’t share it.
What You’ll Find Here
- Family-friendly recipes that satisfy kids and grown-ups alike.
- Step-by-step instructions (because I know what it’s like when you have one eye on your laptop and another on the toddler!)
- A mix of home-style Indian classics, thoughtful twists on familiar dishes, and some fusion fun for when you feel adventurous.
- My personal musings: how I balance office work, school runs, lunch-boxes, and find time to cook.
- Some behind-the-scenes stories: the laughter, the spills, the taste-tests, the “just one more bite!”
Why I Started This Blog
Working in IT made me organised, logical, efficient—but when I step into the kitchen, I let go of all that and just feel. Cooking becomes my creative outlet, my way to connect with my children, my husband, my heritage, and the simple joy of turning raw ingredients into something delicious. I found that when I shared a new recipe with friends, or saw my kids’ faces light up when I served something I’d just made—it felt amazing.
That’s when I thought: why not share this with the world? Why not build a place where you too can reach for your phone, find a recipe you love, cook it with confidence, and feel proud of feeding your loved ones something nourishing and flavour-filled?
A Little About Me and My Life
Living in India (Mumbai/Maharashtra area), with two beautiful children (school hours, playtime, homework, etc.), means my time is precious—and so is food. I keep things practical but never boring. Come here for a recipe you can make on a weeknight, but one you’ll look forward to.
When I’m not typing code or helping with school projects, you’ll find me:
- Scouting for new flavour combinations in the weekend market
- Sneaking in a small batch bake when the kids are at school
- Testing a lunch-box friendly dish that travels well
- Sitting down with my husband and saying: “This is the one—let’s share it on the blog!”
My Promise to You
- The recipes are tested by me and my family—so you know they work.
- Ingredients will be accessible (no need for ultra-rare imports).
- Instructions will be clear and mindful of your time.
- You will always be treated like a friend, not just a visitor.
- I welcome your feedback, your suggestions, your own spins on my recipes.
Thank you for stopping by Story of Yum. I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s cook together, taste together, share together—and make every meal a little story worth remembering.
With warmth, flavour and a spoonful of yum,
Rani
