Rohu Fish Fry Recipe – Quick and Delicious Fish Fry Recipe

Rohu fish fry is my one of the go-to fish recipe when it comes to a quick cook and need something fish flavored on budget. Crispy and golden outside while juicy and tender inside made in 15 to 30 mins!

Cooking fish can be daunting sometime, but often fish fry recipes come to rescue us!. While fish prices soaring to sky especially in metropolitan cities who has less access to sea food, Rohu fish is one of the easy way to satisfy taste buds if no fancy sea food is available to cook. Rohu wins the heart with its soft, white tender flesh which when cooked gives delicate, mild and pleasant taste. Though it comes with a quite pinbones (smaller finer bones) along with backbone, they are easy to remove before you eat.

In last few weeks, I have made this recipe so many time times that proves that my hubby and kids loves it!

Some reason we love it –

  • Coated with traditional Rava with Indian spices
  • Taste pleasant and satisfy your fish cravings on budget
  • Tate best with Dal-Rice or can be consumed as it is with rotis or as a starter in bachelors parties.
  • Easy to make, and ready to serve within 20 to 30 mins

I have never imagined that me and my kids will this this fish, no sauce, no chutney, they can eat it directly with rotis.

Cut Your Rohu into Steak Slices

First of you need to cut the rohu fish in steak slices for frying purpose, but being said that, I prefer buying the fish which is already cut on steak slices and cleaned well. This saves tones of time of preparing the fish steaks.

Coat with Spices Paste

Rinsed, and evenly cut steak slices of rohu fish now needs to be covered with spices. I generally use, red chilly powder, pinch of turmeric powder, salt to taste, spoonful of cooking oil (as per your preference), ginger garlic paste, lemon juice and masala powder (use in very less quantity otherwise it ruin the taste), mix all ingredient and marinade the fish and keep it aside for 10 to 12 mins.

Coat with Spice tossed Semolina

Take sufficient amount of semolina (rava) and pinch of salt as per quantity of semolina, remember we also added salt in marinade paste) then add pinch of red chill and mix it well and coat the marinated rohu with spiced semolina, Make sure to coat fish evenly from all the sides

Shallow Fry for 5 to 10 mins

Just shallow fry it! Some people loves deep frying but shallow frying rohu on both side for 5 to 10 mins can make things easier.
